Give Thanks this Holiday Season

What are you thankful for?

This year I am most thankful for the gift of love.

Love has no fear, 5 years ago my Father was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer. This year the fabulous doctors at Cedars Sinai removed the cancer 100% and he is totally cancer FREE!

Life is a gift, we are thankful.

Also thankful for the gift of music and the joy that it brings.

It has been a pleasure sharing music with you over the past 6 years. I'm back in the studio with one of my favorite producers, Mr. Paul Brown.

We are completing my 5th studio project, to be released early 2015!

There's about to be a bunch a frequent flyer miles coming up!

We're headed to Louisiana, Hawaii, London, Miami, & Cuba. I am so excited and I can not wait!

Hello Everyone!

What's up? I'm so happy to announce that I started working on my 5th studio project last week! Time flies when you're having fun and we've been having a great time because the past 6 years feel like such a short period of time.

RIP Joe Sample

As some of you already know, we lost a piano legend last month. Joe Sample and I worked together for the first time in 2008 and stayed in close contact since then. In 2010 we wrote and recorded the songs "Rainbow Gold" and "Last Night" together for my album "Hot Sauce". I learned so many things from Joe in the studio related to music & Life. The one element that stands out to me the most is how Joe didn't treat me differently as a lady musician. He expected the same things from me as the other musicians and was very respectful. He was a class act. We're going to miss you Joe !!

Happy September

Yay, September is finally here!

Spring has sprung and summer has sung...

I always enjoy the changing of the seasons and the renewed spirit that comes with them :)

LAST MONTH

I had some downtime after finishing our summer tour and decided to take a break from music and explore Montreal. It was inspiring to visit the Fabulous Faberge exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. And equally fascinating to learn how his precise style helped influence the entire Russian Empire!

On another note, we had a blast performing with Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

What's up happy people!

I'm excited to be performing at a bunch of summer shows~

We have over 20 concerts booked this summer and we're ready to have some fun in the SUN!

We started off with a bang at the Austin, Texas Jazz Festival on Memorial Day.

Next we're hitting Alabama, LA, Ohio, Virginia, Michigan, Florida, Colorado & more !

Thank you for your prayers, earlier this month my dad's cancer was 100% surgically removed. We are very thankful for the gift of life :)

Becoming a Fan

It's funny that as musicians sometimes we can take music for granted. Last month, I had a chance to become a fan of music again at the Berks Jazz Fest in Reading, Pennsylvania. I checked out a bunch of different shows and saw a lot of my friends perform! I even fell in love with the music of Gregory Porter, he's an amazing Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter. The way he plays music reminded me why I play music, to touch people, connect with them and bless them. I feel thoroughly blessed to be on the cover of "The Jazz in the M.E.E." Magazine this month :)

Woodwind & Brasswind

We just got back from our Spring Break trip to Mexico! I love Mexico because it represents serenity,

peace, and relaxation for me. My dad was born there so every time we go back we're greeted with open arms by our family. And we really have such a good time whether we go dancing, hang at the beach, go for swim, shop or whatever it is we're doing. We have so much fun because we're all together!

I'm also very excited to be featured on the cover of Woodwind & Brasswind Magazine this spring! I used to order reeds and accessories from this magazine when I was a little girl, so it's like coming around full circle ~ please check it out here...
